About Humboldt Bay Mycological Society

The Humboldt Bay Mycological Society is an organization of community members and professionals united by an interest in the fungi of northwestern California. We are a non-profit organization formed in 1978 with a current membership of about 70 people and welcome all who share an interest in fungi.

Our principle aims are to add to the knowledge of members and the public at large. We seek to accomplish these goals by means of monthly informative meetings to which the public is invited, field trips, workshops and an annual Mushroom Fair.

A newsletter which gives news, announcements, photographs and articles about fungi is produced monthly from September through May.

Our members have many interests including identification of fungi, ecology, photography, cooking, dying textiles, and cultivation.
