About Mushroom Club of Georgia

The Mushroom Club of Georgia (MCG) is an educational organization whose purpose is to promote the study and enjoyment of mushrooms.  The MCG is a great place to meet new people excited about mushrooms and to exchange information.  Anyone that has interest in mycology is welcome, and encouraged, to become a member.  

Becoming a member

An individual can become a member of the MCG for $25 per year or $200 for a lifetime membership.  You can enjoy a family membership that includes your spouse and children for an annual cost of $30.  A family lifetime membership is also available for $300.  Lastly, if you are a student, you can get a yearly membership for $15.  Applying is easily done via PayPal on their website HERE.

Your membership dollars help the organization bring in guest mycology experts from around the world to speak at the monthly meetings.

Special Events

After becoming a member, you will be invited to  attend nature walks to find and identify wild mushrooms.    These forays are led by experienced club members and expert mycologists.  

The group holds classes to teach scientific methods of identifying mushrooms.  They also hold dinners and recipe exchanges.  Members are also encouraged to to participate in programs to educate the general public about the many benefits of fungi.  

Lastly, they also organize classes to teach members how to cultivate edible mushrooms.

Staying up to date

The best way to stay up to date with the MCG is to become a member and join their Facebook and Instagram pages.  They have also recently started a YouTube channel.
