About Missouri Mycological Society (MOMS)
The Missouri Mycological Society is a very active group of mushroom enthusiasts from around the state of Missouri. With several chapters throughout the state, MOMS likely has an event near you. You can expect to have a great time, meet some new mushroom loving folks and get an education as well.
If you like finding, eating, photographing, researching or simply learning about mushrooms, this is a great group to be a part of.
Becoming a member
Joining moms will cost you $20 annually. You can pay via check or PayPal on their website. By becoming a member of MOMS you get access to all of the special events of the year (listed below) as well as their newsletter, “Earthstar Examiner”.
Special Events
Throughout the year MOMS members get together for a variety of events. These events include:
- Camping trips
- Mushroom forays
- Mushroom classes
- Special culinary gatherings (The Incurable Epicureans)
The Incurable Epicureans have been meeting together for almost 25 years. This group of 35 gets together 3 times a year to enjoy and experience different cuisines from around the world. The cost to join is $15 per person and availability is limited to 35 on a first come first serve basis.
Staying up to date
There are several ways to stay up to date with MOMS. If you are on Facebook, you can join their 14K+ member Facebook group to interact with fellow mushroom lovers from around the state. Once you become a member, you can receive the quarterly newsletter which is packed with information. From events to recipes to photography and articles, you’ll find it in the “Earthstar Examiner”.
