About The Maine Mycological Association (MMA)
The Maine Mycological Association is devoted to understanding mushrooms and the environment. During the winter months the MMA holds meetings which can include slide show presentations and guest speakers. In the warmer months they regularly have field trips and forays. The MMA also sponsors training for its members.
The MMA maintains a lending library of about 200 books and some periodicals. They have all Fungi magazines and back copies of “Mainly Mushrooms”. Please see the MMA website HERE for more information about the library.
Becoming a member
You can join the MMA by either signing up on their website or by downloading a PDF and sending it in. All memberships to the MMA are on an annual basis. The cost for an individual membership is $10. Two adults can join for $12. Kids under 18 are free and students in college are $5.
Becoming a member of the MMA will grant you access to their monthly newsletter and forays.
Special Events
The MMA holds very regular forays and as mentioned above, has meetings during the colder months. Forays are a great place to meet fellow mushroom enthusiasts, to gain knowledge and possibly pick up some dinner!
Staying up to date
Becoming a member and joining the MMA is the best way to stay up to date. The MMA will send emails about all forays, meetings and other organization related events. You can also check out their website to see a list of what events are happening and when, but you will need to be a member to get the email to find out the location.
