Connecticut Valley Mycological Society (CVMS)
About Connecticut Valley Mycological Society
The Connecticut Valley Mycological Society (CVMS) was formed in 1975. It is a mushroom club for those interested in studying mushrooms and fungi, mushrooms as a form of art, or anything else mushroom related.
Becoming a member
$20 per year gets you and your family an annual membership. For $200 you can get an individual lifetime membership or $250 for the family. Simply download THIS form and follow the instructions.
Becoming a member is great easy to increase your knowledge of mushrooms. Members of the CVMS receive 3 quarterly newsletters, access to their lending library and access to their exclusive Facebook group.
The purpose of the facebook group is to engage its members in mycology discussions. You are welcome to share pictures, videos, links, news stories, recipes, and ask questions. Basically if it’s mushroom related, this group is a great place to go. Having said that, there are a few things you cannot do in the group. The group is NOT for mushroom identification of any kind, selling anything or promoting meet-ups.
Special Events
The club has several annual events listed on their website to include:
- Sam Rishich Foray
- NAMA Foray
- Clark Rogerson Foray
- Gary Lincoff Foray
Staying up to date
If you are an active member of the CVMS you can access their Facebook group. The club also sounds out its newsletter 3 times a year. The newsletter is generally 5 to 10 pages in length. In it you’ll find information about upcoming events, contact information for club board members, news, links, recipes and photos from throughout the year.
The Connecticut Valley Mycological Society club is a great place to meet other people that are interested in mushrooms, learn more about mushrooms and learn about the different types of events going on in the area.
