Berkshire Mycological Society
About Berkshire Mycological Society
The Berkshire Mycological society was founded by Professor McGinty in 1923. The professor lived to be 101 years old. He is credited by his followers with finding the “Berkshire Blue” amanita. Their website is minimal at this time, but very cheeky and fun to read as you’ll see below.
Becoming a member
This organization does not have a membership at this time. There are no dues, 10% off discounts or anything. As they say on their website, “you get what you pay for”.
Events
During mushroom hunting season they will get together within 20 miles of Great Barrington. Everyone is welcome to attend, especially kids. Dogs are discouraged. Tigers are not allowed at all. Elephants are only allowed with a parade permit.
Staying up to date
The group is most active in its Facebook group. Currently there are over a thousand members and it has posts daily.
Berkshire Mycological Society might not have a lot of organization, member benefits or guest speakers, but if their get togethers are anything like their website, it’s sure to be a good time.
